5. figure out how to PROPERLY end a modal (to add idek how many.... damn)


6. switch up modal css? so the border is the proper red/blue slanted dash border.

i asked people on spacehey for their fav early pc games, and the ones that relate to what im looking for (with doorways in a building that you have to click on to enter the next room) pretty much all just change the cursor to a mouse. i dont really know how to differentiate between the cursor hovering over a "button" that links to a new page/room vs. a cursor hovering over a "button" that opens a modal text box, but: what if i could somehow make an arrow button that lays on top of the image, about where the door is, that is hidden but becomes visible upon hovering? and that + the doorway links to the next page. (like when you hover over the doorway, an arrow pops up)
i think thatd be good to differentiate between new page vs. text box? if thats possible and something i can figure out, that is

i think im going to trash the guestbook idea, if anything ill add it in like a "diary" or let people "carve a mark" into a tree or something idk. not in the living room, anyways. so everything is in the living room except the phone book now! ive been at this all day

so i kinda cheated - i just re-made my livingroom.png into a 1500px-wide version of itself and slapped that one into those online image mappers, got all the coords, and mapped everything. havent done the kitchen yet because i think thatll be an invisible button that ill maybe fuck around and learn how z-index-ing works - rather than trying to fit it into the image map.

but yeah! all thats done. glad to be finishing this up somewhat early since now i will have approximately no down time from 12-17 june.... dear god my calendar looks horrifying.

it also wasnt listed in here, but in an attempt to get ahead, i started working on a telephone directory css.

got the red/blue slanted border on the modal!! and i changed the X to a stamp :)

unrelated again, im just trying to power through what i can while i can - i was originally going to export the krita file of the living room as a jpeg because it was just taking absolutely too long to load, but jpegs cant be transparent duh thats why ive been using pngs, so i just re-saved the og living room png as the desired 1500px-width instead of the monstrous 3000+, and then when i exported it i made sure to turn the compression all the way up. it's still almost 3mb raaaa but the page at least doesnt take 3 minutes to load. and while i was at it, i covered up that ugly white line i had accidentally missed in the clock, so now it ACTUALLY blends in with the living room. cool!
oh and i added audio. not gonna try messing with the gramophone tonight, or at all this week. and im fucking dumb, the living room really should have no modals? i mean maybe one for the gramophone, but thats all. its really like. every other room that's worthwhile. the living room is like a landing page x2. kinda. it's like the "here's my generic neocities-site-stuff" and the rest of the house is the meat. so. great thinking, past me!!!!!!!
still need to work on the kitchen entrance and other shit w the living room image map but i THINK i am probably not going to get much else done on this, tonight or any night through the rest of this week. BLEGH
