so i kind of accidentally made an entire new website that is almost done (or at least as Done as things get when they are first published with the intention of being constantly changing)

I made a navigation bar that stays in a fixed position as you scroll, I made a central column that always looks the same, I messed with css so that everything LOOKS ACTUALLY GOOD all the time, there's only a few more formatting kinks mainly with lists but they aren't a major eye sore and they don't affect functionality at all. everything links where it should and i got images and shit, should probably make a site map at some point idk

so now im REALLY toying with the idea of keeping my current neocities site (i have renamed its folder from "neocities site" to "40s house" bc idk what else to call it) in my computer's folders, and swapping it with what is currently in my computer's folders, because man. a site that is basically Done Enough to the point where you can just blah blah blah is awesome

this all comes as a result of my dad's side of the family deciding to visit today for whatever god forsaken reason, and my rabbit dying, so staying holed up in my room is ver yattractive, and i know i wouldn't have made such progress otherwise - but the progress has been made nonetheless

i just realised i have not put my neocities site anywhere on here.
CRINGE

anyways, it's right here, in all its bloated ugly glory: https://mottemotte.neocities.org/

i didn't even know what html was ~7 months ago, and i didn't decide to do anything with my site until what. 2 months ago at most? so nobody is allowed to be mean to me!!!

trying (and failing) to get accurate coords for my living room image, because the og png (on catbox) is fucking enormous and i have it sized down to 1500px wide, but none of the free online image mapping sites let you adjust image size. so all of my coords from them are starting out with like 2300px. which doesnt exist on my site since the image width is capped at 1500px.

im thinking about using krita to try to guesstimate where the right coords are? not sure how well that will work, or if maybe i can get some browser extension to show where my cursor is. idfk. heres what i know:

for whatever reason, neocities doesnt like for every image map's area to make the cursor point upon hovering, which makes trying to find out if you have your image map area in the correct spot A REAL BITCH! so to add in-line style to every <area> you have to type style="cursor:pointer". no ; or cursor="pointer" like ive been trying. for some stupid reason.

for rect shape area, the first 2 numbers are the (x,y) coords of the first point. (usually upper left-hand corner of the rectangle). the first number is how many pixels away from the left side of the image the point is, second number is how many pixels down from the top. the next 2 numbers (opposite corner of whatever the first point was - so, bottom right-hand corner) are the (x,y) coords of the second point. AND THATS ALL THE POINTS FOR A RECTANGLE!!

shape="circle" has 3 numbers, first 2 are the (x,y) coords of the circle center. third number is the RADIUS of the circle in pixels. shape="poly" has infinite numbers, every one is an (x,y) pair though. its like connect-the-dots.
