I'm kind of on the fence about what I want my site to be
I still want to have this kind of old-pc-game site wherein you walk from room to room and I just babble about 40s/50s shit, along with occasional hidden troves of info/resource-dumping, but man!! i think i bit off more than i could chew.
theres just so much STUFF that has to get done first to make it look the way that i want, and im still finding new stuff to dump into it every day - to the point i genuinely have a google doc of just every site i want to reference and some private posts here of text i want to include. it's so much and!! i don't have space for it.
i also see so many neocities sites that are more "generic" in that you have a background and a block with text in it, and it's a lot more simple than what i'm imagining but also (obviously) much more easy to navigate and create since that's literally what html was made for.
i had this idea in the back of my mind that once i finished this magnum opus of a first site, if i was still interested in neocities, i'd pay to become a supporter and make a more "generic" personal site but i'm on the fence now. i think i'll mess around in notepad, and if i end up enjoying this new "personal" site, i'll still save everything i've worked on up until now (DUH i'd never throw it away. plus it's technically already saved. all of it.) and just swap out what shows up on neocities.
but that then means i'm giving myself permission to start working on a more personal site NOW instead of later, which means i have to kind of comb back through the recesses of my memory and try to remember every idea i've had thus far.... and, of course, info-dump lmao
